Research during university lock-down: Infectious bacterial organisms cannot be taken home

May 26, 2020 // Molecular biologist Benedikt Beckmann is happy to be gradually returning to the laboratory after weeks

Benedikt Beckmann, molecular biologist and leader of the Molecular Infection Biology core group at IRI Life Sciences, is happy to be gradually returning to the laboratory after the restrictions imposed by the lockdown. There, he and his team analyze RNA-protein interactions in the model organism Salmonella Typhimurium.

Additionally, since scientists all around the globe joined forces to investigate and fight the new RNA virus SARS-CoV-2, Benedikt Beckmann and his team are contributing with their expertise and methods to investigate how host proteins of SARS-CoV-2-infected cells interact with the coronavirus genome in collaboration with the group of Klaus Osterrieder (FU Berlin).
